1. Pioneer Reservoir - 8 miles away 
2. Sacramento County Waste Water - 22.6 miles away 
3. Sacramento Area Sewage District - 18.3 miles away

    I live in Plano, Texas, and we just have two sewage treatment facilities, nice to have three, may be better service

    I live in the Central Valley and we have 5 facilities. The contrast is interesting since the population is larger in Sacramento.

The city of Sacramento has two intake structures, one located on the American River and one located on the Sacramento River. Each feeds water to a water treatment plant, E.A. Fairbairn Water Treatment Plant on the American River and the Sacramento River Water Treatment Plant on the Sacramento River. The treatment processes at both plants are the same.  After the water is treated, it flows through our distribution system to reservoirs where it is stored until it is needed. Final Blog

I took away so much from this course. I had no idea about all of the exposures that we use in our everyday lives and how it effects our overall health and environment. I had always wondered why it seemed like more women had been struggling with infertility or how babies are born with certain birth defects. Some of the answers was in this course. I am so mindful of what I put in me and my family's bodies now. I have begin to make lifestyle changes. Since I have taken this class I no longer buy paper plates, I do not purchase bottled water, and when searching for a house I am going to be mindful of the buildings and factories in that area. I enjoyed the readings and learning about the different pesticides in fruits and vegetables. This course provided really good information that I can teach to others to spread awareness so that we can help our environment and save the animals, insects, plants, and our overall population.
