4.6 Radon

How would you develop a national awareness campaign?

1. Budget
2. Volunteers
3. Advertisements

I think that the easiest way to bring national awareness is through social media and television. If we start by educating those that can get the attention of the people then it will make them want to learn about it as well. Posting flyers in hospitals, grocery stores, and schools will also get people's attention.

I would start out by educating some famous people (i.e. singers, actors, politicians etc.) so that they can do a public service announcement/commercial that can be shown on mainstream t.v.  I would also put out an announcement on the radio. These announcements will provide a brief description of what radon is, the effects of radon, and how to test your house for it.

Social media is also a great way to bring awareness. In addition to social media I will have those in real estate address it so that they can bring it to buyers attention. The more the word gets out the better.

I think that it is important to show the morbidity and mortality rates of radon as well. If we can expose the dangers of radon and the effects of it then people will began to take it serious like they did with the flu vaccine this year.

  1. Brittany, I like that you used social media as an outlet for awareness. I think it's a great idea considering how many people are active users of social media platforms. I think using influential people to educate others is a great idea! This would be a great way to bring awareness to children since they look up to so many famous people.

  2. Thank you Brittany for mentioned the celebrities, I think using of celebrities in commercial adverting will have great impact on community because many people following the celebrities. For each campaign to guarantee the success of the campaign we need to do surveys to get community notes and recommendations.
